The 21st of December 2017 was indeed a great day for the Monte family. The Jubilee year which marks 75 glorious years of our school and 25 valuable years of the National Open Schooling which began this year in January 2017 was now at its memorable end. To celebrate this, we had the Closing of the Jubilee Year cum Monte Sports Festival. An eminent figure of Goa, our dear Chief Minister, Shri. Manohar Parrikar was invited as the Chief Guest for the function. He was accompanied by our Deputy Speaker, Mr. Michael Lobo who was the Guest of Honour. Shri. Jayesh Salgaonkar was the Special Invitee for the day. The N.C.C. students gave the Guard of Honour to the guests and our students performed the traditional Indian Aarti to welcome them and acknowledge their importance. Later, they were also presented with a shawl, a memento and a potted plant as a sign of warm welcome. The Assembly of Houses was followed by the March Past of the four Houses, Red Cross and N.C.C. groups. The STAR DRILL performed by the students of the Pre-Primary Section, the SUNFLOWER DRILL by the students of Std. I and II, the GOAN FOLK DANCE by the students of Std. III and IV, MONTE’S GEOMETRY DRILL by the students of Std. V and VI, PANOPLY OF ’68 by the students of Std. X, POVERELLO, a dance depicting the life of St. Francis of Assisi, performed by the students of Std. VIII, and the FLASH MOB DRILL by the students of Std. IX were the items that added colour and joy to the function. 100 mts and 200 mts races were also an exciting part of the day. The School Report was delivered by the Provincial of the Capuchin Province and the Manager of our school, Rev. Fr. Waldheim Rodrigues. We also had the release of the Souvenir of our school – the School Magazine at the hands of our esteemed Chief Guest, Shri. Manohar Parrikar. This year, the Academic Championship was bagged by the Gold House and the Sports Championship was won by the Green House. The Gold House won the First Place in Marching and the Second Place in Academics and Sports. The Prize Distribution was followed by the Vote of Thanks. Finally, we had the Lowering of the School Flag which marked the closing of the Jubilee Year cum Sports Festival 2016-17.
